Chief Technology Officer at a new FoodTech Startup

A venture-backed, early-stage FoodTech startup is seeking an experienced biotechnologist and organizational leader to join our mission of feeding the growing population healthy food without destroying the environment in the process. The startup leverages bioinformatics and precision fermentation to provide food manufacturers with better protein functionality that satisfies consumer demand for clean, vegan, non-GM products. The company is supported by industry leaders.

The Role:

The company is seeking an experienced biotech strategist and leader to oversee the organization’s R&D apparatus in a fast-growing, dynamic industry. The individual will define scientific strategy and have ownership over R&D execution. Managing uncertainty and breaking key questions into their components should be second nature. Food or biotech industry experience is required. Only out-of-the-box thinkers with an interdisciplinary track record need apply.

Responsibilities:

·Scientific strategy, planning, and execution.

·Establish relevant processes and metrics that support scientific goals.

·Competitive scientific analysis and monitoring.

· Contribute to patent strategy and execution.

· Support regulatory efforts, as may be necessary.

· Work with the company’s leadership to align and execute on organizational priorities.

· Identify the need and support the establishment of strategic partnerships.

 

The Ideal Candidate:

· At least three years of R&D strategy and leadership experience.

· F&B or biotech industry experience.

· PhD, Masters, or 5+ years of significant experience in natural or computer science.

· Minimum of 3 years of biotech, drug discovery, or food industry experience.

· Organizational and scientific scale-up experience.

· Highly motivated, proactive individual with contagious energy.

· Lives in or willing to commute to northern Israel.

·Excellent communication skills (Hebrew and English).

·No challenge too big, no task too small attitude. Big picture thinker; hands-on leader.
