Hyper builds voice AI agents for any use case. Businesses use our no-code platform to create agents that handle inbound and outbound calls in 70+ languages, hand off to a human in real time, and connect to their systems through our API.

We are a Google for Startups company and a Meta ISV partner, with paying customers. We are an early stage startup, so you will join as one of the first team members and work directly with the founders.

Our office is in Afula, next to a small forest. Real high tech, no commute to Tel Aviv.

Role Description

We are looking for a Backend Developer for a full-time, hybrid role in Afula.

You will design, build and maintain the backend services that power our AI voice agents: APIs, integrations, data pipelines and the real-time infrastructure behind thousands of live calls.

You will also own how our agents access and use knowledge, from data management and ingestion to RAG and retrieval quality. This is a core part of what makes our agents accurate and useful for real businesses.

As one of the first engineers, you will have real impact on architecture decisions and help shape how the platform scales.

Day to day, you will:

- Design and build scalable REST and async APIs

- Build and maintain integrations with CRMs, telephony providers, WhatsApp and customer systems

- Develop RAG pipelines: document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, vector search and retrieval tuning

- Design data models and manage data flows across PostgreSQL and vector databases

- Build and improve the real-time infrastructure that handles live voice calls

- Integrate and orchestrate LLMs and AI models into production workflows

- Ensure performance, security and reliability across all backend services

- Write clean, tested and well documented code

- Help shape our CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and observability as we grow

- Work directly with the founders to turn customer needs into product

Qualifications (MUST)

- 5+ years of backend development experience with Python

- Strong experience building REST and async APIs (FastAPI or similar)

- Solid experience with PostgreSQL: data modeling, query optimization and migrations

- Experience implementing authentication and authorization flows

- Hands on experience building RAG systems: embeddings, vector databases, chunking strategies and retrieval tuning

- Experience with data management: modeling, ingestion pipelines and keeping data clean and accessible

- Experience working in cloud environments, preferably GCP

- Comfortable with Git, Docker and CI/CD

- Solid understanding of engineering best practices: testing, code reviews, performance optimization and security

- Independent, self driven and comfortable in an early stage startup

Nice to have

- Experience with real-time systems and WebSockets

- Experience with LLM integrations, prompt engineering or AI agents

- Background in voice AI, telephony or conversational products

- Experience with message queues and event driven architectures

- Experience with Kubernetes or serverless infrastructure on GCP
